OCA co-ordination meeting held

The first Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Co-ordination Committee meeting for the fifth Asian Beach Games 2016 has been held in Danang.

OCA's honourary life vice president Wei Jizhong, chairman of the National Sports Administration and standing vice chairman of the event's organising committee, Vuong Bich Thang attended the meeting.

Topics discussed included accreditation, protocol, marketing, promotion, TV, information technology and volunteers, with plans for 1,600 volunteers to be recruited for the games.

The fifth edition of the OCA's sand and sea sports festival will take place from September 24 to October 3 next year, and feature about 5,000 athletes and officials from the OCA's 45 National Olympic Committees.

There will be 14 sports, 22 disciplines and 172 events, with athletes being accommodated in hotels near their own sports at one of four venue clusters to enable them to walk to training and competition venues.
