Nguyen Van Phuong victorious in first round of Australia Open

Phuong, who is ranked as the world junior No. 44, achieved a glorious victory over his experienced rival, who is placed No. 66 in the world junior rankings. The young Vietnamese star secured a berth in the second round of the tournament with a score of 2-1 (6/4, 4/6, 6/3) after two hours of play.

The Vietnamese player had previously lost 1-2 to Ki Lung Ng during the 2015 Asia U14 Tennis Championship.

Phuong will face Lorenzo Musetti of Italy, world junior No.4, in the second round.
