Nguyen Thi Lua makes the Rio 2016 Olympics

VOV.VN -Nguyen Thi Lua on March 19 has made history by becoming the first Vietnamese woman wrestler to have qualified for the Olympics twice after she reached the final of the Asian qualifying event in Astana, Kazakhstan.

In the 53kg category, Lua won two bouts to enter the final round and book a berth in the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympics.

Both the gold and silver medallists from the Asian qualifying event, which ends today, will get a ticket to the Rio Games.

This is the second time the Vietnamese female grappler has qualified for the Olympics, the first time being in 2012 in London, since women`s wrestling was introduced in the quadrennial extravaganza back in 2004.
