Ngoc Anh wins first silver medal for Vietnam at Asian championships
VOV.VN - Mai Ngoc Anh, 17, secured Vietnam’s first-ever silver medal at the 6th Asian U18 Athletics Championships 2025, held in Saudi Arabia on April 17.

She claimed second place in the women’s high jump with a jump of 1.69 meters, finishing behind the gold medalist, Dong Jialing of China, who cleared 1.73 meters.
The Asian U18 Athletics Championships, organized by the Asian Athletics Association, is a biennial competition for young athletes from across the continent. Since its inception in 2015, the event has drawn hundreds of athletes from over 30 countries and regions across Asia.
This year, Vietnam sent Mai Ngoc Anh, Luong Thi Khan, and Le Thi Thao to compete from April 14 to April 18.
Khan finished in fourth place in the women’s 3,000 meters, while Thao placed sixth in the women’s 400-meter hurdles.
The 2025 Asian U18 Athletics Championships brought together top young talents from across Asia, competing in a wide range of events for both male and female athletes. The tournament served as an invaluable opportunity for Vietnamese youth athletes to gain international experience, sharpen their competitive spirit, and prepare for major events such as the SEA Games, ASIAD, and, ultimately, the Olympic Games.
