Nearly 2,400 local, foreign runners join Quang Binh Discovery Marathon

VOV.VN - Approximately 2,400 athletes, including 200 foreigners from 24 countries and territories worldwide, participated in the Quang Binh Discovery Marathon 2024, held at Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park on March 10.

Racers competed in four different categories of 42km, 21km, 10km and six km. They passed through several of the most famous scenic landscapes in central Quang Binh province, such as the botanical garden, the Son and Chay rivers, Dark cave, and Chay Lap bridge.

This was the fourth time that the Quang Binh Discovery Marathon has been organised at Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. It aims to kick-start the province’s tourism season this year.

Dubbed the kingdom of caves, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park was declared a World Natural Heritage by UNESCO twice in July 2003, and again in July 2015, thanks to its impressive scenery and archaeological value.

The park is home to over 300 caves and grottoes that date back 400 million years, underground rivers, and several of the most spectacular flora and fauna found anywhere around the world.
