National squad to play final friendly match ahead of World Cup qualifiers
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese national men’s football team are set to play a friendly match against Vietnam’s U22s on the afternoon of September 29 in preparation for upcoming fixtures in the final round of Asian qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic the senior team won’t have the chance to face any other national teams, therefore friendlies against the U22 side will provide the perfect chance for footballers to stay sharp ahead of the international games.
After a match against the U22 team on the afternoon of September 29, head coach Park Hang-seo will select a final list of footballers to compete against China in a match which will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Vietnamese team are scheduled to fly to the UAE on October 1, with their World Cup qualifier against China to take place at 10 p.m. on October 7 (Vietnam time) at the Sharjah Stadium in the UAE.
The national squad are then due to travel away to Oman where they will play the hosts at 11 p.m. on October 12 (Vietnam time).
