National squad enjoys bonus following victory over Thailand

VOV.VN - Members of Vietnam’s national football team have received an additional VND500,000 bonus from the Vietnam Football Federation after securing a 1-0 victory over host-nation Thailand in the semi-finals of the King’s Cup 2019 on June 5.

The Vietnamese squad won the game in the final minute of added time with a header from experienced forward Anh Duc after a corner kick taken by midfielder Xuan Truong.

The result marks the first time that the national team has beaten Thailand away from home in 11 years, with the last victory coming in a 3-2 win during the AFF Cup 2008.

The football Association of Thailand had promised members of the Thai team 10 million Baht, equivalent to VND8 billion, if they recorded a victory over Vietnam in the semifinals.

As a result, the national team will face off against Curacao in the final of the tournament at 19:45 on June 8.

Elsewhere, Thailand will play India in the third-place match at 15:30 on the same day.
