Nam wins first match at Thai F7 tennis tourney

Ly Hoang Nam won his first singles match at the Thailand F7 Men’s Futures tennis tournament on October 3 in Nonthaburi Province.

Nam, the number five seed, defeated Pruchya Isarow of Thailand 6-2, 6-4 in a match that was interrupted for hours because of bad weather.

Nam will next play Italian Riccardo Balzerani who won 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 over another Thai, Kittirat Kerdlaphee.

Nam is the only Vietnamese player at the event. He will compete in both singles and doubles categories. In the latter category he will partner with a player from another country.

The annual tournament on hard court will distribute US$15,000 among the best athletes.

The finals are scheduled on October 8.
