More than 2,000 to race in Hanoimoi Newspaper Run for Peace
VOV.VN - More than 2,000 runners, including 250 foreigners from 20 embassies, international schools and organisations, will compete in the 50th open Hanoimoi Newspaper Run for Peace, which is scheduled to start at Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi, on September 28.

Notably, nearly 200 professional athletes from 16 provinces, cities, and sectors, as well as universities and colleges nationwide, will take part in the race. National team members such as Tran Van Dang, Nguyen Trung Cuong, and Trinh Quoc Luong, alongside promising young talents, will also be competing in the event.
Runners will compete in 12 amateur and professional categories. In the amateur category, they will vie for titles in 1,750m, 3,500m, and 5,250m for both men and women. Competitors will take part in 5,250m for women and 8,750m for men in professional category.
All preparations for the final have been completed, said the organisers at a press briefing on September 22, adding relevant agencies are working closely together to ensure safety, fairness, and the meaningful spread of the event’s core message “For Peace.”
First launched in 1974, the Hanoimoi Run is among the capital’s most time-honoured sporting events. This year’s race is to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day; and mark 26 years since Hanoi was recognised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) as a City for Peace.
The 2025 race is due to kick off at 7 a.m. on September 28 at Ba Kieu Temple and around Hoan Kiem Lake.
