Minh, Trang advance in Malaysian challenge

No 1 seed Nguyen Tien Minh won his second round match at the Celcom Axiata Malaysia International Challenge badminton tournament in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Minh of Vietnam defeated Japanese Yusuke Onodera 16-21, 21-18, 21-17 in the men’s singles.

He will next play Ramachandran Satheishtharan of the hosts. Minh beat Satheishtharan 21-13, 21-14 at the Kawasaki Vietnam International Series in September.

Vietnamese female player Vu Thi Trang also succeeded on November 9, beating Rusydina Antardayu Riodingin of Indonesia 21-14, 16-21, 21-15.

The No 3 seed will face Japanese Haruko Suzuki in the second round.
