Ly Hoang Nam maintains first place ranking in SEA
VOV.VN - Leading Vietnamese tennis player Ly Hoang Nam climbed 85 places on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP)’s latest men’s singles rankings to reach 483rd in the world.
The local tennis star maintained his place as the top player in the Southeast Asian region.
Nam’s climb up the rankings comes as a result of him entering the finals of the recent M25 Toulouse-Balma in France. This was also the first time that he had qualified for the finals of a professional tournament with a total prize cash of US$25,000 this year.
By claiming top place in the region, the Vietnamese talent left Thai player Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul far behind, with the regional rival ranking second in Southeast Asia and 946th in the world rankings.
Moving forward, Nam is greatly hoped to secure a gold medal in the men’s singles at SEA Games 31 slated for May in Vietnam.
The Vietnamese tennis player will attend two other tournaments in Thailand ahead in April, which is considered to be a warmup in preparation for the major regional tournament.
