Ly Hoang Nam beats strong Ukrainian rival at Egyptian tournament
VOV.VN - Leading Vietnamese tennis player Ly Hoang Nam successfully defeated the talented Illya Beloborodko of Ukraine, who ranks 687th in the ATP, in the first round of the men’s singles of the M15 Sharm El Sheikh tennis tournament underway in Egypt.
This marks the third consecutive tournament of the ITF Men’s World Tennis Tour system in Egypt that the No.1 Vietnamese player has participated in.
Despite being ranked a total of 278 places lower than Illya Beloborodko, Nam started the game in a confident fashion and won 6-2 in the first set.
The second set saw the Ukrainian player attempt a comeback and successfully level the game at 1-1, although the Vietnamese ace rallied to put the game beyond doubt. Nam continued to dominate in the third set and beat Beloborodko with a final score of 6-3 to conclude the game.
He is scheduled to face off against Habib Hady of Lebanon, who ranks 648th in the ATP, in the second round of men’s singles.
