Local women’s football team to compete in U17-ASEAN Jenesys

VOV.VN - A young Vietnamese women’s football team will take part in the U17-ASEAN Jenesys international tournament from March 16 to March 24 in Okinawa, Japan.

The Japan Football Association (JFA) has also sent invitations to other U17 teams, including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, and Myanmar.

The event will be part of a youth sport exchange programme that aims to promote mutual understanding between Japan and Asian-Pacific countries.

The purpose of the scheme is to provide young players with the chance to gain valuable playing experience in preparation for key upcoming tournaments, including qualification for the 2024 AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup.

There will be two rounds of qualification matches for the 2024 AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup, with the first round scheduled to be played between April 22 and April 30, and the second round slated for September 16 to September 24. 

In the first round, the Vietnamese team have been drawn in Group C alongside Uzbekistan, Palestine, and Bahrain. All matches of Group C will be held in Vietnam.
