Local junior table tennis players to vie for Asian championship title in China

VOV.VN - Four junior players will represent Vietnam to compete at the Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship 2024 scheduled to take place in Chongquin, China, from June 30 to July 6.

The four have qualified for the continental tournament thanks to their outstanding performances during the Southeast Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship held in Malaysia in May.

This marks the first time that Vietnamese players have won tickets to the Asian tournament.

Athletes will be divided into two age groups, U19 (junior) and U15 (cadet), for the week-long competition.

Approximately 450 athletes representing teams from more than 30 Asian countries and regions, including China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, will participate in the event.

Vietnamese athletes will play alongside strong rivals from Bangladesh, Saudi Arab, Sri Lanka, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Iran, and China in the U19 men’s team category.

Elsewhere in Southeast Asia, teams from Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia have also won the right to compete in the tournament.
