Local athlete becomes champion of WFFA NextGen World Championship 2024
VOV.VN - Can Minh Duc has become the first Vietnamese athlete to win the World Freestyle Football Association (WFFA) NextGen World Championship 2024 after beating his strong rival from Luxembourg.
The final round, took place in an online format on December 22, witnessed the fierce competition between Duc and Joshua Meehan.
The 15-year-old athlete impressed judges with his outstanding freestyle football skills and clinched an absolute victory with a score of 3-0.
This year, the tournament attracted the participation of 50 athletes from 30 countries and territories.
Initially called the World Youth Freestyle Football Championship, the competition was rebranded in 2024 to pay tribute to the Dutch community, creators of the concept, and is now known as the WFFA NextGen World Freestyle Football Championship.
The global competition allows freestylers under the age of 16 to show off their skills and prove that they deserve a spot among the competitive elite of the sport.
The completely online tournament is evaluated by a team of first-class judges from all continents, including former World Champions.
