Linh beats former world No. 1 to reach semifinals of German Open
VOV.VN - The nation’s top female badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh successfully beat former world No. 1 Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand to make the semifinals of the ongoing German Open.
In the first set of the match, Linh, who ranks No. 23 in the world, took the lead with a score of 21-13 by playing an aggressive attacking game against the Thai rival, who stands at world No. 14.
In the second set, Linh continued to dominate the match and knocked out Intanon with a final score of 2-0 to enter the next round.
If the Vietnamese player goes on to win the tournament then she will pocket a total of VND400 million.
After the conclusion of the tournament in Germany, she will continue to compete in consecutive events in France, the UK, Switzerland, and Spain.
