Liem enjoys first win of 2019 Summer Chess Classic
VOV.VN -Le Quang Liem, the nation’s top ranked chess player, enjoyed his first win of the 2019 Summer Chess Classic which came in his sixth match of the competition on June 24.

After six matches played, Liem has a record of one win, one defeat, and four draws, earning him a total of three points.
He is now placed only 0.5 points behind the competition’s two leading chess players, including Jeffery Xiong of the US.
Liem has been placed in the second-ranked group along with Sam Shankland of the US and Gawain Jones of the UK. Swiercz remains bottom with two points.
The 2019 Summer Chess Classic is being held between June 18 and June 2 and is a double round-robin event which contains three groups of six players.
The winner of the tournament will receive prize money of US$12,000 whilst the lowest-ranked player will also be presented with US$3,000.
In the previous version of the tournament, the Spring Chess Classic which was held in March, Liem finished in third place.
