Japan midfielder Honda comes to inspire local kids
Japan international midfielder Keisuke Honda, who plays for the Serie A football club AC Milan has had a training session with 100 local and Japanese kids and a friendly with former Vietnam squad members Tran Minh Quang and Nguyen Huu Thang at Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 5.
At “Song phai co uoc mo” (life with dreams) event, the 29-year-old Honda and instructors at Soltilo Soccer School in Vietnam showed football techniques and knowledge to kids aged between 6 and 12.
Honda earlier conducted similar training courses for kids in the Netherlands, Germany, China and Thailand to create a helpful playground for children to learn football and nurture young talent.
Honda admitted locals are crazy about football and said he intended to hold a training course for kids in Vietnam even although he has a lot of chances to do this elsewhere.
He has frequently featured as a right winger in the current 2014-2015 Serie A season. He is also known for his free-kicks, dribbling and ability as a dead ball specialist. He has earned over 60 international caps since 2008, playing at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the 2014 FIFA World Cup and winning the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, where he was also voted Player of the Tournament.
The Soltilo Soccer School was established in 2012 with nearly 50 schools in Japan. The training program was developed with the suggestions of Keisuke Honda to improve both techniques and decisiveness and judgment characters of the kids.
