International Women’s Volleyball Tournament opens in Bac Ninh

VOV.VN - The 2019 LienVietPostBank International Women’s Volleyball Tournament kicked off in the northern province of Bac Ninh on February 22, bringing together eight competing teams from across the world.

The competition is staged between eight teams: the Kazakhstan U23 team, a club from Fujian and another from Shanghai in China, a team from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and four Vietnamese teams including Thong Tin LienVietPostBank, Kinh Bac-Bac Ninh, Tien Nong Thanh Hoa, and VTV Binh Dien Long An.
The opening ceremony was held at the Bac Ninh Province Gymnasium. The teams are set to compete in two groups in a round robin format, with the best two teams from each group advancing to the next round.
After the opening ceremony, a match was held between Thong Tin LienVietPostBank and the U23 team from Kazakhstan took place.
Tran Viet Huong, 21, of the LienvietPostbank team stands at 1.78 meters tall. She is one of the top young talents featured in the tournament.
Viet Huong and her teammates showed their determination to win the big prizes at the tournament. The total prize money on offer is up to US$40,000 with the winner set to walk away with US$15,000. There will also be seven awards given to the best individual players, with prize money of US$2,000.
The first match of the tournament featured strong performances from both team.
The tournament will run until March 1.
The Thong Tin LienVietPostBank team achieved their first victory over the Kazakhstan U23 team with a final score line of 3-0.
