Indonesia call up foreign-born players for clash with U19 Vietnam
VOV.VN - Indonesia have called up a number of foreign-born players for the ASEAN U19 Boys' Championship 2026 as they prepare for a group-stage clash with Vietnam on June 7.
Head coach Nova Arianto named several foreign-born players who have previously participated in international tournaments with Indonesian youth teams.
The call-ups include Amar Brkic (Germany), Mathew Baker (Melbourne City/Australia), Timothy Baker (Western United/Australia), Zinadein Ardiansyah (Sydney FC/Australia), Eizar Tanjung (Sydney FC/Australia), Welber Jardim (São Paulo/Brazil) and Igor Sanders (FC Eindhoven/Netherlands).
Most of these players featured for Indonesia at the 2023 and 2025 FIFA U17 World Cups, where the team made notable impressions.
In addition to the foreign-born players, Arianto also called up several members of the U16 team that defeated Vietnam 5-0 in 2024.
The ASEAN U19 Boys' Championship 2026 is set to kick off in Medan, Indonesia on June 1. Following the draw, Indonesia were placed in Group A alongside Vietnam, Timor-Leste and Myanmar.
