Huynh Nhu makes second appearance for Länk FC
VOV.VN - Vietnamese striker Huynh Nhu played for a total of 31 minutes for Länk FC Vilaverdense in her second appearance in the women’s first league Liga BPI in Portugal on September 25.
Länk FC took on Famalicao FC away from home, with Länk FC losing 3-1 to their rivals due to a series of mistakes in the first 20 minutes.
Nhu was brought in off the bench in the 59th minute as a substitute for Brazilian striker Malu Schmidt.
The Vietnamese player immediately put pressure on Famalicao FC’s players, creating a golden opportunity for her teammate Sini Laaksonen to score for Länk FC.
Nhu later had two more chances but ultimately failed to score. The fixture ultimately finished 3-1 in favour of Famalicao FC.
Following the match, the Portuguese top women's league Liga BPI will take a break in order to accommodate FIFA Days which are scheduled to take place from October 3 to October 11.
Nhu is one of the most prominent players in Vietnamese women's football, marking a historic milestone for Vietnam as the first female footballer competing for abroad.
She is most notable for winning the Golden Ball award on four occasions and has also made several important contributions to the Vietnamese women's team, winning gold medals at the SEA Games in 2017, 2019, and 2022, along with the AFF Cup 2019 championship.
In addition, the Tra Vinh province-born player is the top scorer in history with 59 goals for the national side.
The upcoming 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup marks the first time that the Vietnamese national women’s football team, including captain Huynh Nhu, have progressed to the finals of the tournament.
