Huynh claims silver at Han Xin Cup

Lai Ly Huynh of Vietnam came second at the eighth Han Xin Cup Xiangqi (Chinese chess) International Masters, which ended in Sydney, Australia, on November 14.

Huynh is the only master who has not yet captured an international title among the top three finalists at the event.

International Master Cao Yan Lei of Macao was the tournament winner and Chinese Grandmaster Zheng Wei Tong was the bronze medalist.

The Vietnamese champion was among a group of six competitors. He pocketed four wins and one draw to enter the final against Cao, making this the first time in the history of the tournament there was no Chinese finalist.

Huynh, who previously beat Cao thrice, failed to repeat his winning performance. He brought home a bonus of 60,000 yuan (US$8,700), while Cao bagged double of that.
