Hosts claim three U23 medals at UWW U17 & U23 Asian Championships

VOV.VN - Vietnamese wrestlers have secured one gold and two silver medals in the U23 category at United World Wrestling’s U17 & U23 Asian Championships 2026 in the central city of Da Nang, as competition moves on to the U17 events.

The U23 competition concluded on May 27, with the host team winning all three medals in women’s freestyle events.

Do Ngoc Linh claimed gold in the women’s 50kg category, while Nguyen Thi My Linh and Dang Thi Hien earned silver medals in the women’s 53kg and 55kg divisions, respectively.

Both Do Ngoc Linh and Nguyen Thi My Linh previously won gold medals at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.

The host team competed in men’s freestyle, Greco-Roman and women’s freestyle events in the U23 category, but only the women’s squad reached the podium.Competition in the U17 category began on May 28 and will continue through June 1.

United World Wrestling’s U17 & U23 Asian Championships 2026 has drawn nearly 900 athletes from 25 teams across Asia.

This marks the second consecutive year that Vietnam has hosted the tournament, with Da Nang also serving as the venue for last year’s edition.
