Home advantage for Vietnam at U17 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers
VOV.VN - Vietnam will have an advantage in the race for a spot at the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup 2026 as it has been chosen by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) as one of the host nations for the qualifying round of the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026.

As the 2026 AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup also serves as a qualifier for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, the qualification stage marks the start of the road for teams aspiring to compete on the world stage of youth women’s football.
In addition to being the host of one qualifying group, Vietnam have also been placed in Pot 1 for the draw of the qualifiers for AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 alongside Thailand, Australia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, India, Iran, and Indonesia.
This favourable seeding gives Vietnam’s young female players an extra advantage in their bid to qualify for the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup 2026.
The qualifiers will consist of 27 teams divided into eight groups, including five groups of three teams and three groups of four teams. The eight group winners will advance to the final tournament, joining four teams that have received direct qualification, namely the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Japan, the Republic of Korea, and China.
The group draw is scheduled for August 7, while the qualifying round is slated for October 13 to 17.
Before heading to the continental stage, Vietnam’s U17 women’s team will participate in the ASEAN U16 Women's Championship, which is set to take place in Indonesia at the end of August.
