Harry Kewell takes charge as Hanoi FC’s new head coach
VOV.VN - Harry Kewell arrived in Hanoi on October 5, beginning his new role just one day after he was appointed head coach of Hanoi FC.

The arrival of the former Australian international is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the capital club as they prepare for the remainder of the 2025-2026 V.League season.
With experience playing and coaching across various footballing environments, the 47-year-old brings with him an open-minded and adaptable approach. For Kewell, success in football isn’t just about tactics, it’s also about inspiring players and instilling belief.
Speaking on his first day in Vietnam, Kewell shared that he has previously worked with many Asian players and has always been impressed by their dedication and tireless effort in training and matches. That experience has led him to believe that Vietnamese footballers possess the same hunger and drive to improve.
Kewell expressed his ambition to build Hanoi FC that plays attractive, modern football, grounded in a spirit of learning and progress. Beyond technical and tactical matters, he also emphasised the importance of cultural integration, calling it a vital part of establishing a strong team identity.
The Australian coach faces an immediate challenge, as Hanoi FC are targeting the V.League title this season. However, Kewell appears ready to embrace the pressure, stating he is excited and looking forward to “what lies ahead.”
According to the schedule, Kewell will have two weeks to work with the team during the October FIFA Days break before making his debut on the touchline. Hanoi FC are set to face Ninh Binh at 7:15 p.m. on October 18 at Hang Day Stadium in Round 7 of the 2025-2026 V.League.
With the team currently on a short break, this period will be crucial for Kewell to familiarize himself with the squad and lay the groundwork for the next phase of the season.
