Golden Racket International Table Tennis Championship opens in HCM City

VOV.VN - The 33rd Golden Racket International Table Tennis Championship began in Ho Chi Minh City on July 4.

The tournament has drawn the participation of 100 players from an array of countries including China, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, and host nation Vietnam.

The country has selected a strong team to take part in the competition with players from Vicem Hoang Thach of Hai Duong City, Hanoi, Tien Giang province, Vinh Long province, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Players will compete in four categories including the men’s and women’s doubles, and the men’s and women’s singles.

The winning team will pocket prize money of VND30 million whilst the second and third placed teams will be awarded VND15 million and VND10 million, respectively.

The winner of the individual categories will receive VND20 million with those in second and third place receiving VND10 million and VND6 million, respectively.

The event has been organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Table Tennis Federation and will last until July 7.
