Goalie Nguyen Manh handed 2-match ban, US$1,000 fine

VOV.VN -Goalie Tran Nguyen Manh has been slapped with a US$1,000 fine and  two-match suspension by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for unsportsmanlike conduct following his outburst on December 7 at AFF Suzuki Cup 2016.

The AFC also banned Manh from attending all FIFA matches of the Vietnam national football team including the upcoming qualifying rounds for the AFC Asian Cup competition to be held in 2019.

At the match, Manh disagreed with the officiating after referees red carded him in the 77th minute. He subsequently, inappropriately took out his frustrations on an Indonesian player.

Earlier, the AFC also imposed a US$38,000 fine on the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for unsportsmanlike conduct on the part of the Vietnamese fans for attacking an Indonesian bus at AFF Suzuki Cup 2016.
