FPT Play secures broadcast rights for two SEA football tournaments

Accordingly, FPT Play has obtained the media rights outright on different platforms such as cable, satellite, internet, internet, IPTV, mobile, radio, public slideshows, and social media.

The national multi-platform digital television provider under FPT Telecom is planning to negotiate with other domestic and foreign broadcasters in order to share its rights, allowing the tournament to reach an even larger audience.

This season’s ASEAN Club Championship, also known as the Shopee Cup™, is the third edition of the international football competition held between domestic champions affiliated with the member associations of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF).

The tournament will begin on August 21 and is due to last through to May 21, 2025, drawing the participation of 12 football clubs from across Southeast Asian region.

Vietnam will send two representatives to the competition - winners of the 2023 National Cup Dong A Thanh Hoa FC and 2023 V.League 1 champions Cong An Hanoi FC.

The 2024 ASEAN Championship, or Mitsubishi Electric Cup™ 2024, is the 15th edition of its kind rebranded to the ASEAN Championship.

The final tournament was originally scheduled to run from November 23 to December 21. However, the AFF decided to change the schedule from December 9 to January 5, 2025, to avoid conflicts with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) club competitions.

The 10 teams are to be split in two groups of five and then play in a round robin system with each team playing two home and two away fixtures. Two group winners will subsequently advance to the knockout stages consisting of two-legged semi-finals and finals.

Vietnam have been drawn in Group B alongside Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Myanmar.
