Former Thai national team coach likely to coach Cong An Hanoi FC

VOV.VN - Alexandre Polking, former head coach of Thailand's national team, arrived in Vietnam on May 15 ahead of a possible move to become manager of Cong An Hanoi FC.

After bidding farewell to Thai coach Kiatisak Senamuang, Cong An Hanoi FC have invited Alexandre Polking to the nation for contract negotiation.

Later on May 15 he headed to the northern province of Ninh Binh to watch a match between Phu Dong Ninh Binh and Dong Thap FCs in the V.League 2.

Cong An Hanoi FC will face Becamex Binh Duong FC on May 17, with Tran Tien Dai the interim coach after Thai coach Kiatisak ended his contract with the football club.

Polking may take charge of Cong An Hanoi FC from the 19th round of the V.League 1 season.

The Brazilian coach, 58, was appointed as the national head coach of the Thailand national team, as announced by the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) in September, 2021.

He received a lot of credit for helping Thailand to win the AFF Cup for the second consecutive time in 2022, beating Vietnam 3-2 over two legs in the final.

With an understanding about Southeast Asian football, Polking is hoped to guide Cong An Hanoi FC back towards the top position of the V.League 1.
