First win for Vietnam at 2025 ASEAN U19 Women’s Championship
Vietnam’s U19 women’s football team made a 2-0 victory over Myanmar in their opening Group A match of the 2025 ASEAN U19 Women’s Championship that kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on June 9.

Competing in Group A alongside Myanmar, Laos, and Timor-Leste, Vietnam expect a semifinal spot in the single round-robin format, where the top two teams from each group advance. Group B includes Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Malaysia.
Earlier in the same round of Group A, Laos defeated Timor-Leste 2-0, while in Group B, defending champion Thailand crushed Indonesia 6-0, and Malaysia beat Cambodia 4-0.
Held by the ASEAN Football Federation, the championship features eight regional teams split into two groups, with matches played across four stadiums in Ho Chi Minh City through June 18.
The tournament, which was first held in 2014, has been a competition stage for Vietnam’s U19 women’s team, which reached the final in 2014, 2022, and 2023 but finished as runners-up each time.
