First silver medal for Vietnam at Asian Para Games Hangzhou 2023

VOV.VN - Female weightlifter Dang Thi Linh Phuong on October 24 clinched the first medal for Vietnam in the women’s 50kg weight category at the fourth Asian Para Games taking place in Hangzhou, China.

Linh Phuong, who was reigning Asian Para Games champion, successfully lifted 101kg in her second attempt but failed to lift 106kg in her third attempt, while Chinese athlete Wei Li succeeded in her second 110kg attempt, setting a new record at the competition.  

The Vietnamese athlete won a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Para Games when she lifted 103kg.

This time she won a silver medal, the first of its kind for the Vietnamese sport delegation at the fourth Asian Para Games.

On October 23, two other Vietnamese weightlifters Le Van Cong and Nguyen Binh An brought home two bronze medals in powerlifting.
