First 8 golds for Vietnam at Asian Youth Chess Championships 2025

VOV.VN - Vietnamese chess players have brought home eight gold medals at the 2025 Asian Youth Chess Championships taking place in Bangkok, Thailand.

In the rapid chess, Dau Khuong Duy and Duong Ngoc Uyen won two gold medals in individual competition.

In the boys’ U14 division, Duy topped the standings with 6 points after seven rounds, finishing unbeaten with five wins and two draws.

In the U14 girls’ section, Duong Ngoc Uyen dominated the field, taking first place with 6.5 points from seven rounds, including six wins and one draw.

In addition to the individual titles, Vietnam’s youth chess team earned six more gold medals in the team rankings. For each category, the organisers calculate the team result based on the top three players from each delegation.

Beginning on November 22, the 2025 Asian Youth Chess Championships, the 27th of its kind, is scheduled to last through to November 30. It features rapid, blitz, and standard chess for boys and girls in the U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18 categories.

After the rapid competition concluded, players moved on to the standard event, which also awards both individual and team medals. The blitz event will be held on the final day.
