FIFA hails brave Vietnamese performance in World Cup qualifiers

VOV.VN - Football’s world governing body FIFA have applauded the recent performances by the Vietnam national team in the Asian region’s qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, despite loses to Australia and Saudi Arabia.

In its article published on September 8, FIFA stated that head coach Park Hang-seo’s team put in some brave showings in the recent fixtures.

“They opened the scoring in the opener against hosts Saudi Arabia when Nguyen Quang Hai scored their first-ever goal in this stage inside three minutes which proved the opening matchday's fastest goal, before pushing the Socceroos all the way in Hanoi,” says FIFA.

After two matches, Vietnam are in fifth place in Group B with no points.

The team is currently resting before gathering again on September 16 to take part in a training camp. They will then fly to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to play against China on October 7 before facing an away game against Oman on October 12.
