FIFA bans Thanh Hoa FC from registering new players

VOV.VN - Thanh Hoa FC is facing significant challenges after the world’s football governing body FIFA imposed a ban preventing the club from registering new players for three consecutive transfer windows.

According to some sources, the sanction stems from a lawsuit filed by Igor Silva, a Brazilian player born in 2000 who played for Thanh Hoa FC during the 2024/25 season. He lodged a complaint with FIFA regarding his contract termination payment.

The ban comes at a difficult time for the club, as many of Thanh Hoa FC’s key players are struggling to maintain their form, and the team is also grappling with financial difficulties. Despite these obstacles, the club has continued to compete and currently sits 11th in the 2025/26 V.League standings.

In early 2025, HAGL FC was also banned by FIFA from registering new players after Ghanaian player Martin Dzilah filed a complaint regarding his contract termination payment. After settling the financial issue with the player, HAGL FC had the sanction lifted.

Thanh Hoa FC could have the ban lifted if they reach an agreement with Igor Silva, prompting him to withdraw his complaint to FIFA.
