Female footballers receive warm encouragement ahead of Lunar New Year
VOV.VN - Senior officials from Vietnam’s sports authorities visited and extended Lunar New Year (Tet) greetings to the Vietnam women’s national football team during a training session on February 15, as the team prepare for the 2026 campaign.
The visit took place at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre in Hanoi ahead of the upcoming Year of the Horse. Among those attending were Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong, Director of the Vietnam Sports Authority Nguyen Hong Minh, and General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation Nguyen Van Phu.
Head coach Mai Duc Chung reported that the team have maintained their training schedule in line with professional plans, ensuring both workload and intensity. Despite the approaching Tet holiday, players remain focused and disciplined as they prepare for key international competitions in 2026, he said.
On behalf of the coaching staff and players, Chung expressed appreciation for the timely encouragement from sports authorities, describing it as an important source of motivation as the team works toward new performance targets in the coming year.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong commended the team’s dedication during the holiday period, noting that the women’s national squad have contributed significantly to Vietnam’s recent sporting achievements. He assured relevant agencies would continue to create favourable conditions to support the team’s international objectives.
Officials extended New Year wishes to the coaching staff, players and their families, expressing hope that the team would maintain strong form and secure further successes.
Under the current schedule, players will return home for the Tet holiday before regrouping on February 18 to resume training.
