Dung wins Asian weightlifting silver

Tran Thi My Dung has won a silver medal at the Senior Asian Weightlifting Championships in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

Dung lifted 87kg in the women’s 53kg snatch competition.

Wei Chengji of China won the gold, lifting a total weight of 88kg, while Kaewkhong Supattra from Thailand came third with 82kg.

However, Dung failed in all her attempts in the clean and jerk competition.

Wei grabbed her second gold medal, lifting 112kg. She was followed by Kaewkhong with 108kg and Kristina Shermetova from the host country with 104kg.

Vietnam earned 11 medals after two days of competitions. The championships will end on April 29.
