Documentary to showcase Vietnam’s journey to FIFA Women’s World Cup

VOV.VN - A documentary highlighting the Vietnam national football team’s journey to the 2023 Women’s World Cup and the extraordinary effort of the squad’s players has been released that is expected to be screened at 52 cinemas nationwide.

The release coincides with the celebration of Vietnam Women’s Day which falls on October 20 annually.

The 45-minute long documentary has been collaboratively produced by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and film production company Viewfinder.

The film tells stories about how the team overcame numerous challenges and difficulties to record their incredible achievement. It also highlights the great efforts and sacrifices made by each player to help the team complete their task.

Taking place from July 20 to August 20 in New Zealand and Australia, the 2023 World Cup marks Vietnam’s first appearance in the largest tournament for women's football. The team played in Group E alongside 2019 world champions the United States, 2019 runners-up the Netherlands, and Portugal.

Vietnam ended their World Cup campaign after losing 3-0 to the US, 2-0 to Portugal, and 7-0 to the Netherlands.
