Cong Phuong to sign one-year deal with Sint-Truidense FC
VOV.VN -Vietnamese forward Cong Phuong is poised to sign a one-year contract with Belgium side Sint-Truidense in Ho Chi Minh City on July 5.
Despite this Nguyen Tan Anh, managing Director of HAGL FC, claimed that Phuong will instead move to the Europe on a one-year deal rather than a one-month trial.
On June 30, Japanese sports publication Sponichi Annex confirmed that Phuong could sign a possible one-year contract with the Belgium side in Ho Chi Minh City in the next few days.
Originally founded in 1924, Sint-Truiden Club were purchased by Japanese company DMM.com in 2017. During the 2018-19 season, Sint-Truidense recruited five Japanese players including Takehiro Tomiyasu, Wataru Endo, Takahiro Sekine Kosuke Kinoshita, Daichi Kamada, and goalkeeper Daniel Schmidt.
The team play their football in the Belgium top flight, the Jupiler Pro League. Last season the side finished seventh in the 16-team league with 47 points from 30 games. They finished two points off the top six teams who go on to compete in play-offs for the championship title.
According to website Transfermarkt, the estimated market value of the club is approximately EUR27.5 million.
The club’s most valuable football is midfielder Takehiro Tomiyasu with a market value of EUR9 million.
