Coach Park flies to UAE to prepare for Vietnam’s Asian Cup qualifier

VOV.VN - Head coach Park Hang-seo left Oman for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on October 14 in order to link up with the Vietnamese U23 squad ahead of their upcoming qualifiers for the 2022 AFC U23 Asian Cup.

He was accompanied by goalkeeper Van Toan, defender Bui Hoang Viet Anh, and midfielder Ly Cong Hoang Anh who are also set to join the national line up for the competition.

Defenders Nguyen Thanh Binh and Le Van Xuan were earlier sent from the senior team to the U23 squad after Vietnam lost 2-3 to China on October 7 in the final round of Asian qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Vietnamese U23 team are currently in the UAE for their sixth training session.

Several days ago they were held to a 1-1 draw by Tajikistan in a friendly match. They are scheduled to play another friendly game against Kyrgyzstan on October 17 before coach Park unveils a final list of 23 footballers for the national lineup.

The Vietnam U23 squad will depart for Kyrgyzstan on October 21 to compete at the 2022 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers.

The team are due to take on Taiwan (China) on October 27 and Myanmar on November 2. 

The team’s goal is to remain top of Group I and qualify for the final round of the 2022 AFC U23 Asian Cup which is due to take place in Uzbekistan in June 2022.
