British and Italian athletes win VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam champions

VOV.VN - Two athletes from the UK and Italy triumphed in the male and female categories of the VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam which concluded in the central city of Da Nang on May 7.

The VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 is a grueling long-distance triathlon consisting of a 1.9-km swim, a 90-km bicycle ride, and a 21-km run.

Christoper Frederick Mascarenhas-Keyes of the UK won the men’s category, clocking an impressive time of four hours 15 minutes 12 seconds.

Second and third positions were awarded to Alexey Vshivtsev of Kazakhstan and Michael Cassinides of Australia with times of four hours 19 minute 35 seconds and four hours 22 minutes 39 seconds, respectively.

In the women’s category, Krisztina Vaczi of Italy won the championship title after clocking a time of five hours two minutes five seconds.

Bianca Marcon of Brazil with a time of five hours three minutes 24 seconds and Lindsay Nickel of the United States at five hours five minutes 32 seconds were placed in second and third positions, respectively.

The event got underway in Da Nang from May 4 to 7, attracting nearly 3,000 athletes, including 1,000 international athletes from 62 countries.

Aside from the long-distance triathlon, the Sunrise Sprint, IRONKIDS Vietnam, and Newborns Vietnam Runout competitions were held alongside the primary race.

The IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam also offered 34 slots to the 2023 VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship which is scheduled to take place in Finland on August 26 - 27.
