Binh Dien International Women’s Volleyball Cup heats up with strong line-up
VOV.VN - The VTV9–Binh Dien International Women’s Volleyball Cup 2026 is gaining momentum as organisers continue to confirm participating teams, promising high-quality competition and exciting matchups.
Three Vietnamese clubs - Information Corps, LPBank Ninh Binh and Vietinbank - have officially accepted invitations to compete. They will join hosts VTV Binh Dien Long An and the Hanoi women’s team, bringing the total number of Vietnamese participants to five.
Notably, the Hanoi were added at the last minute after a Philippine club withdrew due to travel constraints. Under head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, the team have been in strong form, winning all four matches in the first phase of the 2026 national championship.
The tournament will also feature three foreign clubs, maintaining its international format. Among them, Gunma Green Wings from Japan stand out as a key contender, expected to bring a modern, competitive playing style.
The competition is scheduled to take place from May 15 to 23 at the Tay Ninh Indoor Stadium. The event provides an important opportunity for teams to assess their squads, test tactical approaches, and gain international match experience amid an ongoing domestic season.
According to organisers, participating teams were mainly selected from top performers at the 2025 national championship. A total of eight teams will compete, ensuring a balanced field between strong domestic sides and quality international guests.
At the most recent edition in 2024, VTV Binh Dien Long An finished fourth, while LPBank Ninh Binh secured runner-up after losing to PFU Blue Cats (Japan) in the final. Although PFU Blue Cats will not participate this year, the presence of Gunma Green Wings is expected to maintain the tournament’s competitive quality and appeal.
Hosts VTV Binh Dien Long An have confirmed the participation of star hitter Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, adding further excitement for fans.
While not officially organised by the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, the VTV9–Binh Dien Cup has become a well-established annual event, steadily enhancing its reputation within Vietnam’s volleyball system.
With a strong line-up of domestic teams and quality international clubs, the 2026 edition is expected to deliver thrilling matches and continue attracting widespread fan interest nationwide.
