Bich Tuyen withdraws from Vietnam squad ahead of Women’s World Championship
VOV.VN - Vietnamese spiker Bich Tuyen has withdrawn from the national team for family reasons on August 19, just one day before the squad departs for Thailand to compete in the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship.

The Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) confirmed that the coaching staff respected Tuyen’s decision, fully aware that her absence will significantly reduce the team’s attacking strength.
Tuyen is regarded as a key pillar of the Vietnamese women’s team. During the second stage of the 2025 SEA V.League, she delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 45 points in the final against Thailand, 42% of the team’s total. Her efforts helped Vietnam secure a 3-2 victory, earning their first official Southeast Asian championship title. Tuyen also received dual honours as “Most Valuable Player” and “Best Opposite Spiker.”
On the evening of August 19, Vietnam is set to play a final friendly against Kenya at Do Anh Gymnasium in Hanoi. Kenya previously lost 4-0 to Spain on August 16, and both teams will participate in the upcoming World Championship.
