Asia Triathlon Cup and National Club Championships open in Ninh Binh
VOV.VN - The Asia Triathlon Cup Tam Chuc 2026 and the Vietnam National Triathlon Club Championships opened in Ninh Binh province on May 16, bringing together nearly 400 athletes from 31 countries and territories alongside domestic competitors from across Vietnam.
The annual high-performance sporting events are jointly organised by the Ninh Binh Department of Culture and Sports, the Vietnam Triathlon Federation and Tam Chuc Tourism Service Co., Ltd.
Athletes are competing in six race categories across the three disciplines of triathlon: swimming, cycling and running.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Manh Cuong, deputy director of the Ninh Binh Department of Culture and Sports, noted that hosting the two triathlon tournaments would help strengthen international exchanges, promote the development of the sport and contribute to showcasing the image, culture and people of Vietnam, particularly Ninh Binh province, to domestic and international friends.
They also aim to provide a healthy sporting platform, encourage the nationwide development of triathlon and identify outstanding athletes for Vietnam’s future SEA Games and ASIAD squads.
The events have drawn strong attention from domestic and international media outlets, with reporters covering the athletes’ dramatic and exciting performances.
Competitions will run through May 20.
