Anh Vien named best Vietnamese athlete of 2015
(VOV) - Young star swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien has been voted as the best Vietnamese athlete of 2015 in a poll conducted in Hanoi on January 12 following her overwhelming victory.
According to the organizing board, AnhVien won the majority of votes with the highest score of 1031 points, following by athlete Nguyen Thi Huyen (619 points) and tennis player Ly Hoang Nam (595 points).
Vien had a fruitful 2015 with a collection of 8 gold medals at the 28th Southeast Asian Games, two silvers and one bronze from the World Cup, seven gold and 5 silver medals at the 8th Asian Age Swimming Championship and one gold, one silver, two bronze medals at the sixth Military World Games.
In 2015, Vien was named one of Asia's five best female swimmers by US based Swimswam magazine.
Dang Anh Tuan, who trains AnhVien, was honoured as the most outstanding coach of 2015.
