AFF Futsal Champ: Vietnam top Group B after Timor Leste win

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese national futsal team on April 5 recorded a resounding 7-1 win over Timor Leste to top Group B in their second match of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Championship 2022 which is underway in Thailand.

Vietnam started the game slowly, but when their opponents’ physical strength weakened,  the team applied the pressing tactic, putting together effective attacking moves at will and subsequently winning overwhelmingly.

The game saw Nguyen Thinh Phat and Nguyen Minh Hieu score two goals each, whilst Tran Thai Huy, Le Quoc Nam, and Nguyen Minh Tri all got on the scoresheet.

The team led by head coach Pham Minh Giang now have four points after two games and stay on top of Group B.

Vietnam are scheduled to play Australia on April 6 in the final match of the group stage.

The regional tournament which is to run until April 10 will serve as the qualification stage for the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2022, with the top three teams representing ASEAN in the finals in Kuwait from September 25 to October 20.

Going into the competition, Vietnam have set a goal of making the top three.
