AFC confirms two Champions League Two slots to Vietnam

VOV.VN - Vietnam has earned two slots at the AFC Champions League Two, the continental club football tournament for Asian teams, after the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) released its latest men’s club competition rankings following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.

With a cumulative score of 38,020 points, Vietnam finished 15th overall across the continent. Vietnam currently sit eighth in the East Asian zone, allowing Vietnamese football to retain one direct qualification spot and one playoff berth in the AFC Champions League Two for a third consecutive cycle.

In Southeast Asia, Thailand remained the region’s highest-ranked federation in seventh place across Asia, followed by Malaysia (11th), Singapore (14th), Vietnam (15th), and Cambodia (19th). Saudi Arabia topped the continental rankings ahead of Japan and the Republic of Korea.

According to the AFC, the rankings are based on the actual performance of clubs in continental competitions over the past eight seasons.

In recent times Vietnamese clubs have shown significant improvement in the AFC competition. In the 2025/2026 season, Vietnam had two representatives in the AFC Champions League Two, including Cong An Ha Noi FC and Nam Dinh FC. While Nam Dinh FC finished third in their group, Cong An Ha Noi FC advanced to the Round of 16 before being eliminated from the tournament.
