‘Action packed’ VTV women’s volleyball fest gets underway July 8

VOV.VN - Teams from six Asian countries will highlight the VTV Women’s Volleyball Cup that gets underway July 8 at the Hai Duong Competition Hall in the northern city of Hai Duong, according to a press conference.

The tourney will divide the teams into two groups. Top two of each group collide in the quarterfinals where the winners meet in the semi-finals, said Phan Ngoc Tien, head of the executive board.

Under this format, we expect that only the best team will survive, noted Mr Tien.

We have a very balanced field. We really can’t predict who will emerge as the champion as all teams are serious in their respective preparations. This is going to be an exciting battle, not only for the teams, but for the fans as well, he added.

The first place winners will get US$10,000 in prize money while the second and third place finishers receive US$7,000 and US$5,000, respectively.

All matches for the seven day competition running July 8-15 among teams from Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, the Republic of Korea, China, and the host Vietnam will broadcast live on VTV.
