7,000 local, foreign athletes register for Techcombank Hanoi Marathon

VOV.VN - As many as 7,000 domestic and foreign athletes from 38 countries have registered for the Techcombank Hanoi Marathon due to take place on September 25.

The three-day event to be co-organised by Sunrise Events Vietnam (SEV) and Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank) will be the first race in Hanoi with start and finish points in two different locations. The race will start in the heart of the Old Quarter next to Hoan Kiem lake before finishing in the modern Vinhomes Riverside in Long Bien district.

Most notably, the event will have a total prize fund of US$30,600.

For the first time ever runners competing in the marathon category will have the opportunity to take on Nhat Tan Bridge, the largest cable-stayed bridge in the country. In addition, Long Bien Bridge, a cultural and historical symbol of the people of the capital, will be a unique highlight for athletes participating in the half-marathon category.

All four distances of five km, 10 km, 21.1 km in the half-marathon category, and 42.19 km in the marathon category, are certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), ensuring both accuracy and safety for athletes.

According to the AIMS, the race will feature challenging routes for both runners and organisers. However, runners will be able to experience a route up to an international standard and admire the poetic nature of Hanoi in every step.

According to Thai Minh Diem Tu, chief marketing officer of Techcombank, the message of "running for an outstanding Vietnam" not only inspires a healthy lifestyle, but also motivates each individual to realise their potential and have a strong desire to pursue success in their own way.
