300 martial artists compete in National Pencak Silat Champs
VOV.VN - The National Pencak Silat Championships opened in the central city of Da Nang on March 22 with 300 martial artists from 28 clubs across the country taking part.
Athletes aged between 17 and 45 are due to compete in Tanding and Senni categories.
In the Tanding, martial artists will take part in 13 different weight categories for men and 11 weight categories for females, whilst the Senni will see the competitors involved in three weight categories for men and three weight categories for women.
This year the championships has attracted outstanding faces who have recorded strong achievements in international tournaments, including Nguyen Dinh Tuan in the men’s 55kg, Nguyen Ngoc Toan and Pham Van Ty in the men’s 80kg, Nguyen Van Tri in the men’s 95kg, and Le Van Toan in the men’s 110kg.
The event has been jointly organised jointly by the National Sports Administration and the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism with the aim of seeking national talents for international competitions this year, including the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games which are scheduled to take place in December in Hanoi.
The national championships is due to last until March 30.
