2024 National Shooting Championship underway in Hanoi
VOV.VN - The 2024 National Shooting Championship officially opened at the National Sports Training Center in Hanoi on November 15, drawing the participation of top shooters from across the country.
According to the Vietnam Shooting Federation, the Nov. 8-22 tournament has brought together nearly 300 shooters from 14 teams across 13 different units, industries, and regions in the country.
Among the top-tier athletes are Trinh Thu Vinh, who has made it to the Olympic finals twice; Pham Quang Huy, a gold medalist at the 19th Asian Games; and Le Thi Mong Tuyen, who has already secured a spot for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The athletes are competing in 33 disciplines to vie for 34 sets of medals. The disciplines include pistol and rifle shooting, Trap and Skeet shooting, and Compak Sporting shooting, a new discipline which has been featured for the first time in this championship.
After the competition, best shooters will be selected to take part in the 46th Southeast Asian Shooting Championship (SEASA) in Manila, the Philippines from December 3 to 14.
